Head of Space Planning and Merchandising

This role will be responsible for the visual representations of a store’s products or services that indicates the placement of retail products on shelves to maximize customer convenience, sales, and profits of the company. Responsibilities are to adjust product placement strategically to increase sales. Observing customer behavior, creating a diagram of the store layout, and developing a plan for where to place merchandise based on customer flow through the store.


  • ✓  Create and manage planograms at the store level using space planning software according to the store’s merchandising and planogram standards

  • ✓  Analyze performance metrics, such as turns, margins and sales to provide recommendations to management that identify potential opportunities to improve productivity of space

  • ✓  Provide administrative and sales support

  • ✓  Coordinate workflow and keep projects on schedule

  • ✓  Analyze the need for planogram changes according to data and

    trends, including primary and secondary data sources

  • ✓  Work with customer’s planogram team and account managers to

    ensure planogram compliance

  • ✓  Create and maintain store layout information

  • ✓  Work with account managers and analysts to create and execute

    exit strategies for clearance products

  • ✓  Ensure planograms are compliant and distributed to the

    appropriate people

  • ✓  Other duties as assigned


    • ✓  Relevant education preferably on master’s level

    • ✓  Relevant experience more than 9 years at retail sector

    • ✓  Excellent communication skills

    • ✓  Advanced PC skills with a preferred broad knowledge of any of the

      following: Apollo, Galleria, Designer Workstation, Pro Space,

      Spaceman, Microsoft Office (proficient with Excel and Access).

    • ✓  Strong analytical skill with the ability to solve business problems.

    • ✓  Knowledge and understanding of the relation between product

      and shelf space.

    • ✓  Understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., category

      management), and merchandising organizational structures and


    • ✓  Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet

      tight deadlines

    • ✓  Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of

      Merchant leadership

    • ✓  Team oriented with excellent time management and organization


    • ✓  Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude

      in all situations
